Sustainability

MAKING A BIG IMPACT

At Global real estate services, we strive to make a big impact. Sometimes, making a small impact over thousands of homes creates the biggest returns. We created the Awards to challenge our associates, our owner clients, and our residents to develop more sustainable practices and lessen the environmental impacts at all of our communities.

Besides energy and water efficiency, sustainability practices include reducing waste, recycling and using recycled products, supporting carpooling and alternative transportation, and improving indoor environmental quality.

Committed to Sustainability

We believes that energy management and sustainable practices enhance the financial value of the communities we manage — and help to preserve the environment for future generations. We are fundamentally committed to minimizing environmental impacts through continuous improvement of our energy performance and through sustainable operating practices.

Sustainable Living Guide

It's our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact. This guide shares easy ways you can save energy, conserve water, and limit waste to help improve our environment.

Global Real Estate Services Awards

Our proprietary Green Awards program records and quantifies changes made at all of our communities to track how small actions create substantial impacts. An annual survey tracks 107 variables in seven categories:

  • Energy Efficiency
  • Water Consumption
  • Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
  • Community
  • Indoor Environmental Quality
  • Education
  • Required Practices

Sustainable September

We celebrate our signature event each year at our corporate offices and communities to promote sustainable living through a series of small changes that — when done every day — make a big impact.

Energy Retrofits

There are many ways to save gas, electricity, and water at multifamily communities. Local utility companies across the country have rebate programs for energy-efficient lighting, HVAC, and water use. Some include free labor, which also translates to savings for communities and residents alike. For example, explore the savings these communities receive using the Maryland Quick Home Energy Checkup Program.
